Long-term
The NeuRx™ DPS system offers patients with a spinal cord injury a real alternative to permanent mechanical ventilation. With the NeuRx™ DPS, these patients can breathe independently again and avoid complications that are often associated with long-term ventilation - such as pneumonia.
The breathing generated by the electrical stimulation is based on the
natural breathing movement and thus supports a more physiological breathing function.
Short term
The TransAeris™ system supports patients by treatment and prevention of Ventilator Induced Diaphragm Dysfunction (VIDD). This respiratory muscle weakness often occurs after long surgical procedures if the phrenic nerve has been traumatized.
The system can be used for up to 30 days to prevent or treat VIDD. The aim is to wean patients successfully and quicker.
